The Process & How It Works

We know scrapping a car can feel overwhelming, which is why we’re here to make it completely hassle-free at JMT Motors. Thanks to our years of experience, we take care of the heavy lifting so you don't have to waste a single moment.

At JMT Motors, we take the stress out of scrapping your car. Just follow these three easy steps:

1.Generate A Quote

Stuck with an MOT failure or a car that’s too costly to fix after an accident? Don't worry—JMT Motors specializes in taking the hassle out of tough situations. We leverage a huge, nationwide network of Authorised Treatment Facilities and specialist buyers to do all the heavy lifting (and shopping around) for you. That’s how we guarantee the most competitive price and eco-friendly recycling for your vehicle. Get in touch today: Call us on 07982323454

2.Arranging Collection

When you accept your quote, our advisor will confirm your collection address and contact details. We then share all necessary information—along with any extra details you've provided—with your assigned collection agent, who is contractually bound to maintain our high service standards. Collection is always 100% free of charge, your quoted price is fully guaranteed, and we pride ourselves on a fast turnaround of 48 hours or less.

3.Collection & Payment

The final step is simple. Your assigned collection agent will call you to schedule a convenient pickup time, giving you a chance to share any specific details they need to know. When the driver arrives, they will help you complete the required sections of your V5C logbook and sign the document on behalf of the company. Once you've removed any personal belongings, your car is ready to go. You'll receive your payment (typically via bank transfer or business cheque, depending on the buyer), along with the yellow slip of the V5C. Remember to send this portion off to the DVLA to officially transfer ownership and release you from liability. And that's it—the process is complete! Handshakes all around—your vehicle collection is complete!

Important Things to Keep in Mind

Considering your insurance, tax, outstanding finance, and other key factors from the outset helps prevent any surprises that could delay scrapping your vehicle.

  • Insurance: Your vehicle must remain insured right up until it is collected, so do not cancel your policy until the car has officially been removed.

  • Tax: Similarly, keep the vehicle taxed until the collection agent picks it up. Once the vehicle is processed or declared SORN, the DVLA will automatically calculate and issue a refund for any full remaining months of tax.

  • Documentation: Have your current V5C logbook and any other relevant papers ready. If you don't have the V5C, a photo ID will be required. Please note that some collection agents cannot accept pickups without a logbook; if yours is missing, just let us know ahead of time so we can pair you with the right collector and save you time.

Outstanding Finance: Before we arrange a collection, we run an HPI check to see if there's any finance left on the vehicle. Keep in mind that you are still responsible for any outstanding balance—this will need to be cleared up before your car can officially go to scrap.
